Geospace Technologies Corp. has divested its Geospace Pioneer, an ultralight seismic land node, to Dawson Geophysical Co., according to an Aug. 11 press release.
The deal is valued at $24 million with Pioneer’s delivery slated to begin in the third quarter.
Weighing less than 0.5kg, Pioneer is a single-component, autonomous land wireless seismic data acquisition solution. It is designed to deliver precise, high resolution survey data, the companies said.
The node continuously records for up to 50 days and offers accelerated deployment with a QuickDeploy feature. The device was engineered with a proprietary 5-Hz geophone for enhanced image quality, according to the release.
Dawson said the investment would give the company a competitive edge over large integrated high-resolution, high channel count surveys currently demanded by the E&Ps.
“We anticipate improved efficiencies in our operations with lighter weight equipment. Additionally, we expect improved calendar efficiency by allowing us to be more competitive for small surveys,” said Dawson President and CEO Tony Clark.
