ADNOC Contracts Flowserve to Supply Tech for CCS, EOR Project

Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. has contracted Flowserve Corp. for the supply of dry gas seal systems for EOR and a carbon capture project at its Habshan facility in the Middle East.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) has contracted Flowserve Corp. for the supply of dry gas seal and dry gas seal systems for a carbon capture project in the Middle East, Flowserve said Jan. 14.

Flowserve’s systems will be integrated into two high-pressure injection packages to be installed in ADNOC’s Habshan gas plant, provided by Celeros Flow Technology in collaboration with Flowserve. It will be the first continuous supercritical CO2 (sCO2) pump injection service for EOR.

The injection packages, using Celeros’ high-pressure BB5 pump technology, will transport the captured sCO2 via pipeline from the Habshan facility to ADNOC’s Bab Far North Field Development CO2 storage hub.

“We have developed a revolutionary solution that exemplifies the dynamic capabilities of our sealing solutions,” said Lamar Duhon, president of Flowserve Pumps Division. “Guided by our 3D strategy to diversify, decarbonize and digitize, we are excited to be a part of ADNOC’s ambitious decarbonization journey, furthering both Flowserve’s and Celeros’ commitment to helping the world reduce carbon emissions."

ADNOC’s CCS project will capture and store 1.5 MMton of CO2 annually, equivalent to the emissions of more than 326,000 vehicles. The project is part of ADNOC’s plans to increase its carbon capture capacity of 5 MMton annually.
