Coastal Bend LNG is planning to build a 22.5-million tonnes per annum (mtpa) natural gas liquefaction and export facility along the Texas Gulf Coast, the company announced June 26.
The facility will consist of up to five 4.5 mtpa liquefaction trains, cogeneration, LNG storage tanks and export facilities for shipping, bunkering and ISO containers. The facility will also have carbon capture, transport and storage capabilities, allowing the company to take advantage of 45Q tax credits, Coastal Bend LNG CEO Nick Flores said.
“We are responding to growing global demand for low carbon intensity LNG,” Flores said.
The privately held company said it will pre-file its permits for the facility with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in 2025.
