Amigo LNG will provide 0.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG to Macquarie Group over a 15-year period, the companies announced Aug. 25.
Amigo LNG is a joint venture between Texas-based Epsilon LNG and Singapore’s LNG Alliance. Macquarie is a global trading and financial services group.
The project is located on Mexico’s West Coast, near Guaymas, Sonora. The first phase is targeted for commercial operations in the second half of 2028, with feed gas sourced from the Permian Basin through existing pipeline networks.
The project’s first phase will establish a 3.9-mtpa production train, with the potential to add another 3.9 mtpa of production at a later date.
Marine facilities at the site are under construction.
On the same day as the deal information was released, Amigo also announced that it had finalized an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the company’s floating LNG project, also located on the West Coast of Mexico.
Dubai-based Drydocks World was selected for the building job for what Amigo said will be the world’s largest FLNG facility.
Under the EPC contract, Drydocks World will convert floating storage units to support LNG export operations and build new FLNG barges that use U.S.-based pre-treatment and liquefaction technologies.
The FLNG facility is designed to produce 4.2 mtpa when complete. An expected in-service date was not included with the announcement.
