In an industry where exploration frontiers are continually expanding, the Orange Basin has emerged as a Super Basin of immense interest and potential. Searcher, a leading provider of global multi-client geoscience data and a pivotal player in the global exploration sector, has once again underscored its commitment to advancing exploration with its recent groundbreaking acquisition accomplishments in this region.
The Orange Basin, located off the coasts of Namibia and South Africa, has become a beacon for exploratory success and Searcher is proud to announce it currently holds the most extensive data collection in this vital basin, with a total of 21,768 sqkm.
In collaboration with their partners Shearwater, Searcher has successfully completed a series of projects that pave the way for future exploration endeavours in the area. A total of four projects in Namibia have culminated in the acquisition of 12,713 sqkms of Multi-Client 3D (MC3D) seismic data. This achievement is complemented by an additional project in South Africa, which has contributed a further 9,055 sqkm to Searcher’s impressive data library.
This significant data acquisition effort in the Orange Basin is instrumental in unlocking the geological secrets of the area, providing invaluable insights into the subsurface and fostering a better understanding of its potential, offering a clearer picture of the basin’s architecture and potential resource deposits.
