British engineering and consulting firm Wood will conduct the front-end design for the DeLa Express, a proposed natural gas pipeline connecting the Permian Basin to processing facilities in Louisiana, the company announced Sept. 16.

Moss Lake Partners, a Houston-based firm, announced it was developing the pipeline earlier in 2024. Construction work on the 2 Bcf/d capacity line is projected to begin in 2026 and be completed in 2028.

Moss Lake began the filing process with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in April. The 645-mile DeLa Express route crosses the Texas-Louisiana border, placing it under federal jurisdiction.

“Wood recently completed the design of several long-haul pipeline systems in the United States and has a strong track record of delivering engineering for complex natural gas pipeline systems as well as managing the FERC permitting process," Jeremy Hall, Wood senior vice president of oil, gas and new energies Americas, said in the press release.

Wood has recently delivered engineering work for pipeline projects such as the Permian-to-the-Gulf Grey Oak crude pipeline and Williams Cos.’ Regional Energy Access project in Louisiana and Texas, according to Wood’s web site.
