On May 29, Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy held a comprehensive drill to confirm the company’s readiness to localize and eliminate oil spills.
The drills were held at the storage and sale base for fuels and lubricants, methanol and chemicals of the company’s Material and Technical Supply and Equipment Department. According to the plan, a quasi-instantaneous destruction of a five-thousand-cubic-meter tank occurred, with diesel fuel spilling over the embankment wall. According to preliminary estimates, the spill area was more than eight and a half thousand square meters. In accordance with the event plan, the participants practiced actions to localize a possible emergency oil spill and eliminate its consequences.
Employees and managers of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy LLC branches, the Company’s non-staff emergency rescue team, representatives of the North Ural Interregional Security Department of Gazprom PJSC and personnel of the federal fire service units demonstrated the availability of the required resources and readiness for prompt action in an emergency.
As a rule, such large-scale exercises are held once every three years. According to the event organizers, the assigned tasks were completed in full and within the established timeframe.
