“It was agreed with the Saudi side that Aramco will invest and develop the Akkaz gas field in Anbar province. The goal of investing in the development of this gas field is to achieve a production capacity of 400 million cubic feet per day,” the head of the Ministry of Oil said.
In addition, he spoke about reaching “a preliminary agreement with the kingdom on investments in the Nebras project, which is one of the most important and promising in the petrochemical industry in Iraq and the Middle East.”
More than 200 businessmen and government officials took part in the fifth meeting of the coordinating council of the two countries, which was held in Jeddah.
According to the Minister of Commerce of Saudi Arabia Majid al-Kasabi, quoted by the Iraqi News Agency, the delegations of the two countries discussed many opportunities for cooperation, in particular, connection to the common electricity grid, logistics system and investments in general. He noted that “trade between Iraq and Saudi Arabia reached $1.5 billion in 2022.”
