Triangle Energy

  • 三角——拥有50%的参股份额和运营权;
  • 新西兰石油天然气有限公司 ——25%;

  • Booth 将是 30 年来我们在珀斯盆地的 2 个许可证下钻出的第一口井;
  • 在此期间开展了3D地震勘探,并在近年来珀斯盆地的一些重大发现中发挥了关键作用;

Triangle Energy is Preparing to Drill Its First Well in 30 Years in Western Australia’s Perth Basin

Triangle Energy Global is set to begin drilling Booth-1, its first well in the Perth Basin in Western Australia. The company’s press service reported this on April 18, 2024.

The company notes that the lease contract for the Ventia 106 drilling rig has been signed, all necessary approvals have been received, and drilling of the Booth-1 well will begin at the end of June 2024. This is the first object within which the results of 3D seismic exploration conducted in the subsoil areas L7 and EP437 will be used.

The joint venture for the development of subsoil areas includes:

  • Triangle – with a 50% participation share and operator rights;
  • New Zealand Oil & Gas Ltd. – 25%;
  • Strike Energy Ltd – 25%.

Booth deposit

Booth-1, which will be located east of L7, will be the 1st well in the JV’s upcoming drilling campaign targeting natural gas production in the Kingia-High Cliff reservoirs with the potential to produce oil or gas in the overlying Jurassic sandstones. The well will be drilled to a total depth of 2.9 thousand m. The Booth field has estimated reserves of 113-540 Bcf of natural gas, with a best estimate of 279 Bcf (100% of the block’s gross reserves).

Theses from Triangle Managing Director K. Todd:

  • Booth will be the first well drilled under our 2 licenses in the Perth Basin in 30 years;
  • During this time, 3D seismic surveys were carried out and have played a key role in some of the major discoveries in the Perth Basin in recent years;
  • Triangle and our JV partners have used our new 3D seismic survey to locate and plan these wells, and we look forward to drilling the first of many promising wells in these areas.

Other wells within the drilling campaign

The second well – Becos – will be drilled to a total depth of 1 thousand m in the EP437 subsoil area in September 2024. It aims to discover an oil reservoir in the Bookara sandstone. Becos estimated reserves range from 1 million barrels. up to 21 million barrels

Potential targets for the 3rd well are other gas fields in L7. Notable features include Huntswell Deep, a previously unmapped structure discovered using 3D seismic, as well as MH-2 Updip and Mountain Bridge South in the southern portion of L7.
