Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has met with a delegation from Chevron, one of the largest companies in the world in the energy sector within the framework of the meetings and interviews that the Minister holds with investment partners in oil and gas production.

The meeting witnessed the exchange of visions and discussion of the company’s business plans in Egypt to search for and produce gas in the Mediterranean region through its concession areas. Additionally, the meeting tackled ways to provide support and join efforts to accelerate activities and drilling programs to develop gas resources.

The delegation included Frank Cassulo, Vice President of Chevron in Southeast Asia and Emerging Countries; Kristian Svendsen, Director of Research and Exploration at Chevron Egypt; and Anis Aboulnaga, Chevron Egypt Director of Marketing and Distribution of Petroleum Products.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Badawi expressed his satisfaction with Chevron International’s presence and investments in the Egyptian petroleum sector, acknowledging the company’s global leadership in oil and gas exploration and its renowned technological expertise in the field.

The Minister affirmed the commitment of the government and the oil and gas sector to support investment to achieve an increase in gas and oil production, accelerate the pace of development of discovered fields, increase research and exploration operations in new areas, and identify all challenges and work with partners to overcome them.

Badawi discussed with the company’s delegation ways to accelerate activities and drilling programs in its concession areas in the Mediterranean, particularly the Narges area, in cooperation with the Italian company Eni, a partner with Chevron, the main operator of the area.

Chevron officials expressed their pride in being part of Egypt’s energy sector, highlighting the company’s long and rich history in the country, beginning with its entry into the petroleum products distribution market. In 2020, Chevron expanded its activities in Egypt to include natural gas exploration, and the company is eager to achieve success in several regions, including the Eastern and Western Mediterranean.
