Everllence compressor technology for new FPSO offshore Guyana

Published by , Assistant Editor
Oilfield Technology,

Everllence will deliver four compressor trains to MODEC for a new Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Hammerhead field offshore Guyana.

Everllence compressor technology for new FPSO offshore Guyana

It is the seventh FPSO project developed by ExxonMobil Guyana Ltd, the operator of the field. The vessel will be moored approximately 200 km off the coast at a water depth of around 1025 m and will have an initial production capacity of 150 000 bpd of oil, bringing total installed storage capacity of 1.5 million bbls of oil.

Once operational, the new FPSO will contribute to Guyana’s growing role in the global energy market, raising the country’s total production capacity to almost 1.5 million bpd. First production is expected in 2029.

Andrei Popescu, Director of Sales Oil & Gas, at Everllence USA Inc., states: “This major order for the Hammerhead field further underscores our role as a trusted technology provider in the rapid development of Guyana’s energy industry. It also reflects our ability to deliver reliable compression solutions for demanding offshore developments, in close collaboration with our partners and customers, across South America and beyond.”

Upon start-up, Everllence’s compressor systems will help maximise the quantity and efficiency of gas production from the Hammerhead field.

The scope of supply for the project includes a total of four barrel-type RB compressor trains: two as low-pressure gas compressors and two as export gas compressors.

All compressors will be electrically driven. While the low-pressure gas compressors will be driven with variable frequency drives (VFD), the export gas compressors will be driven with fixed speed drives. The compressors will be designed, manufactured and tested at Everllence’s facility in Zurich, Switzerland.

The scope further includes a comprehensive dynamic process simulation, enabling the compressor systems to operate at their full potential in terms of process efficiency. Daniel Schmidli, Head of Sales Industries SEA at Everllence, added: “We are glad to support MODEC’s offshore development by supplying our proven compressor technology. Our solutions are designed for high availability and long-term performance, supported by comprehensive lifecycle services that help ensure reliable and safe operation of the FPSO in challenging deep-water environments.”
