The Irkutsk Oil Company is exploring the possibility of building a plant for the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Ust-Kut. This was reported to journalists by the head of the INC, Yakov Ginzburg.
“Now we are considering the construction of an LNG plant in Ust-Kut, the estimated processing volumes will be up to 250 million m3 of methane per year. The main consumers may be the cities of the Republic of Buryatia, the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Irkutsk Region. Mongolia and China can be promising consumers,” he said.
This year, we are completing the construction of a 100 km long methane pipeline from the Markovskoye field to Ust-Kut with a throughput capacity of up to 5.6 billion m3/year. Now we are studying the possibility of building a second methane pipeline between the Yarakta and Markovskoye fields.
“The arrival of industrial gas to the city allows us to consider the task of social gasification of the Ust-Kutsk region and the Irkutsk region” as part of the program for the gasification of the region,” said Yakov Ginzburg.
Reference: Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak noted that several options for gasification of Severobaikalsk and Baikalsk were being considered. The first is the construction of an LNG plant near the Kovykta field with supplies to Severobaikalsk and Baikalsk. The second option is that INC will deliver gas from its fields. Based on the results of the consideration, the most economical option for the region will be selected.
