Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an Indian engineering conglomerate, has made a significant stride in its hydrocarbon business by securing a letter of intent for a mega offshore order from a large, yet undisclosed, client in the Middle East.
The project’s scope is extensive, involving engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of a new large offshore platform. Additionally, the contract includes brownfield work, which will integrate the new platform with the existing facilities, further demonstrating L&T’s comprehensive capabilities in handling complex offshore projects.
Despite the importance of this contract, L&T has kept specific financial details and the client’s identity confidential. However, it is known that mega orders for the company range between approximately $1.2bn-$1.8bn, indicating the significant scale and value of this deal.
Subramanian Sarma, Whole-Time Director and Senior EVP of Energy at L&T, expressed his enthusiasm about this development. “This mega order from a new customer reaffirms global acknowledgement of our capabilities and marks a key milestone for our offshore business,” he said. This statement not only underscores the importance of the order for L&T but also reflects the company’s growing influence and recognition on the international stage, especially in the highly competitive hydrocarbon sector.
