Oilfield servicer Patterson UTI Energy Inc. revealed its average drilling activity for August 2025.
Houston-based Patterson UTI had an average of 94 drilling rigs operating in the U.S. in August. This is a slight decrease from its previous two-month average of 96 rigs, Patteson said in a Sept. 8 release.
In the Lower 48, Patterson has rigs currently operating in West Texas, East Texas, South Texas, the Midcontinent, the Rockies, North Dakota and Appalachia.
The company’s monthly average drilling report represents rigs that were earning revenue under a drilling contract within the U.S.
Patterson cautioned that numerous factors can impact the company's operating results.
“A particular trend in the number of drilling rigs operating may or may not indicate a trend in or be indicative of the Company's financial performance.”
