Miros

Miros OSD

Miros, provider of real-time ocean insights for maritime and offshore operations, has made a significant update to its Oil Spill Detection (OSD) system.

Miros strengthens oil spill detection system with cloud-enabled capabilities

The latest version of the Miros OSD now features cloud-enabled capabilities, a natural product evolution that further distinguishes it from other oil spill detection solutions on the market while aligning seamlessly with the company’s other cloud-enabled products.

The updated OSD system supports continuous communication with the Miros Cloud infrastructure and is the backbone of the Miros OSD Monitoring application. Vital oil spill data is instantly synced to the cloud, ensuring all stakeholders have access to the same real-time information, enabling seamless collaboration and informed decision-making.

This announcement follows hot on the heels of Miros unveiling the latest expansion to its product line with the launch of the Oil Spill Detection (OSD) Monitoring application in Miros Cloud.

Vemund Svanes Bertelsen, Product Manager for Oil Spill Detection at Miros, said: “With our new cloud-enabled OSD system, we empower stakeholders with real-time information, secure collaboration, and immediate, actionable insights. It enables automatic synchronization of oil spill event files, facilitating regulatory compliance with greater efficiency and transparency."

The system provides oil spill action accountability by storing and syncing all relevant data and operator actions for all alarm events to the cloud. Robust user authentication and authorisation for alarm handling and data access further reinforces accountability at every stage of spill event management and supports regulatory authorities’ auditor function requirements.

Additional remote configuration will streamline operational control and reduce cost for maintaining the sites.

With over 20 years of extensive testing in oil-in-water exercises and real-world incidents, Miros’ OSD systems have a proven track record for efficacy, early detection, and a low false alarm rate, supporting operational efficiency without compromising sensitivity. Delivered worldwide to oil companies, ship owners, and coastal agencies, these real-time systems enable early detection, response coordination, and ongoing surveillance.
