Evolution Well Services and Northeast Natural Energy (NNE) have announced a long-term partnership to deploy electric-powered hydraulic fracturing systems across the gas producer’s assets in the Appalachian Basin. The companies said in a joint release on 11 February that the collaboration is expected to lower emissions and reduce equipment noise.

Under the terms of the agreement, West Virginia-based Northeast Natural will use locally produced natural gas to fuel Evolution’s electric fracturing equipment. Northeast Natural operates approximately 60,000 contiguous acres in north-central West Virginia, developing and producing reserves from the Marcellus Shale.

"By pairing our field gas with Evolution’s electric fracturing technology, we’re advancing safer, cleaner, and more efficient operations that create lasting value for West Virginia and the broader Appalachian region,” Criss VanGilder, director of drilling and completions for Northeast Natural, said in a statement. “We're cutting emissions, reducing truck traffic, lowering operating costs, and shrinking our environmental footprint—all while strengthening the long-term resilience of our operations. This partnership reflects our commitment to responsible development and the communities we serve.”

The Houston area-based Evolution uses fully integrated, patent-protected electric fracturing operations, in-house power generation, and advanced field gas conditioning services to complete unconventional wells across North America.

Evolution also recently reported achieving zero recordable safety incidents over a 2-year period, representing approximately 1.4 million operational hours.
