Neptune Energy is starting work on the dismantling and renaturation of a total of 14 former oil and gas wells in the Ravensburg district. The drillings are spread over an area of ??almost 5 by 15 kilometers and in a total of seven different communities. Neptune Energy plans the entire project to last around two years.
From February 12th, the project team will carry out initial preparatory work for the dismantling of the former oil and gas wells and their locations. Among other things, the old extraction sites must be prepared for backfilling and, in some cases, temporarily expanded. The respective access routes are also affected. Neptune Energy is improving parts of this for construction site traffic and will restore or dismantle it after the project is completed.
In a first step, the team begins with clearing the pitches, which also requires occasional tree felling. The spaces will then be temporarily expanded. The backfilling work with a special winch only begins in the summer, followed by the recultivation of the areas used for mining and the dismissal from mining supervision.
The work is routine dismantling work that is under official supervision by the State Office for Geology, Raw Materials and Mining in Freiburg as the responsible supervisory and approval authority.
