Iron Oak Energy Solutions is acquiring HC Minerals Inc.’s Northern White Sand assets in a deal expanding the proppant supplier’s reach in the Appalachian Basin, Iron Oak said Aug. 11.

The assets include HC’s production facility in Wyeville, Wisconsin, which uses cost-effective dredge mining techniques with direct access to the Union Pacific Railroad.

The deal also includes four terminals in the Marcellus and Utica shales and increases Iron Oak’s total Northern White Sand production capacity to over 12 MMtons per year.

The deal positions Iron Oak’s strategy in Appalachia for growth, President and CEO Michael Segura said in the deal’s announcement.

"We anticipate strong demand growth in natural gas basins, particularly the Marcellus and Utica regions, driven by rising power generation needs, expanding data center infrastructure, and growing LNG exports,” Segura said. “The HC Minerals team brings deep expertise in proppant production, rail logistics, and supply chain operations; capabilities that are well aligned with our business.”
