Halliburton will partner with Singapore’s lead public sector research and development (R&D) agency, the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR) to launch the Next-Generation Energy Accelerators Joint Lab (NEX Lab). According to Halliburton, NEX Lab will “accelerate the development and commercialization of advanced well completion technologies for the energy industry.”

The $26-million project will serve as a collaborative hub for research, engineering, and testing. NEX Lab will support the transition from early-stage innovation to field deployment by bringing together design, prototyping, and validation, while contributing to the development of technical talent in Singapore through collaboration between Halliburton and the local innovation community.

“As global industries move faster, we cannot afford to let our ideas sit as ‘stored potential’ for too long. Companies, researchers, and governments must work together to increase our acceleration—acting like a well-oiled machine where every gear turns in sync to solve complex challenges in energy, manufacturing, and sustainability,” said Alvin Tan, Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry, who served as officiant for the launch event.

Halliburton established operations in Singapore in 1973 and first collaborated with A*STAR in 2019 to launch the A*STAR Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Center’s industry consortium. The consortium invested more than $1.5 million in R&D for projects focused on materials and design improvements, workflow and inspection automation, and sensor development.

“NEX Lab brings together Halliburton’s global expertise in well completions and A*STAR’s multidisciplinary research capabilities to advance cutting-edge technology that shapes the future of energy and the future of completions,” said Shawn Stasiuk, senior VP of Halliburton's completion and production division.
