Murphy Oil has participated in a new discovery (Ocotillo #1) in Mississippi Canyon 40 in the US Gulf of Mexico.

According to the company’s latest trading update, the well encountered 100 ft of net pay across two zones. Murphy has a 33.33% interest.

Another non-operated exploration well, Orange #1 (Mississippi Canyon 216) found non-commercial hydrocarbons and has since been P&A’d.

During Q2, Murphy as operator drilled the Mormont #3 well in Green Canyon 478 and brought online Khaleesi #4 (Green Canyon 389). The Lucius #11 well in Keathley Canyon 919 (non-operated) also came onstream.

Elsewhere, the company progressed its Neidermeyer #1 sidetrack (Mississippi Canyon 208) sidetrack well which came online in the current quarter, as did the non-operated Kodiak #3 well workover (Mississippi Canyon 727).

The company changed the development plan for a well on the Samurai field to a single zone to improve overall field recovery. Extended operations at the planned Neidermeyer #1 sidetrack well delayed the rig from initiating a workover on a well at the Dalmatian field.

Offshore Vietnam, Murphy advanced its Lac Da Vang field development project and awarded facilities and pipeline contracts. The main outstanding work should be awarded by the year’s end: first oil is targeted for late 2026.

In Block 15-2/17 in the Cuu Long basin off southern Vietnam, planning continues for the Hai Su Vang exploration well which could start drilling in the current quarter. The prospect holds potential for 170-430 MMboe.

And in Block 15-1/05, the Lac Da Hong exploration well (65-135 MMboe) is set to spud in Q4.

Finally, Murphy has committed to submitting a development plan by the end of next year for the Paon oil discovery offshore Côte d’Ivoire.
