ADNOC Drilling has agreed to acquire a 70% stake in SLB’s land drilling rigs business in Kuwait and Oman, the companies announced May 29.

The agreement encompasses eight operating land rigs under contract, two in Kuwait and six in Oman.

The sale price was valued at $112 million, said ADNOC, the national oil company of the UAE. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in first-quarter 2026.

“This acquisition is a natural next step in ADNOC Drilling’s growth journey and reinforces our position as one of the leading companies in drilling and integrated services,” said ADNOC Drilling CEO Abdulrahman Abdulla Al Seiari.

The acquisition is a “steppingstone in ADNOC Drilling’s expansion outside the UAE,” Jefferies equity analyst Ruben Dewa said in a May 29 note. “Until this announcement, ADNOC Drilling’s only drilling rig exposure outside its core UAE home market was a single rig in Jordan.”
