ElectriGen and Hyliion Holdings Corp.’s methane emissions reduction project has been awarded $6 million by the Department of Energy. Hyliion’s Karno generators can use wellhead gas to produce low-emission electricity.
ElectriGen LLC and Hyliion Holdings Corp. have agreed to work together on a methane emissions reduction project that has been awarded a $6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
ElectriGen is a power-as-a-service provider based in Houston. Hyliion, which develops electricity-producing technology, is based in Austin.
The project uses Hyliion’s Karno generators, which can produce electricity from more than 20 different fuels, including unprocessed field gas. The collaboration is designed to demonstrate the generator’s ability to operate on well-head gas that would otherwise be flared to produce sustainable, near-zero emissions electricity.
