Belorusneft’s geologists have accepted a new challenge: the unique Maisko-Makeevsko-Dneprovskaya area is under development, Belorusneft’s deputy general director for geology Petr Povzhik told reporters on the eve of the Oil, Gas and Fuel Industry Workers’ Day, BELTA has learned.
The peculiarity of this project and in a significant amount of work. “The area is very large – over 1.2 thousand sq. km. We are performing such a serious areal survey for the first time in one field season. Before that, the maximum survey reached 500-600 sq. km,” the company said.
Previously, such sections were considered an unpromising direction, and the execution of work was impossible due to the peculiarities of geographical conditions and transport infrastructure, including highways, railway bridges, oil pipelines, etc.
“At this stage, the competence of specialists and technological equipment fully allow us to accept this challenge. To plan these Innovative software was used for the works. Today we are talking about the digitalization of the entire cycle of geological exploration, including seismic. The so-called digital twin will be used,” the Deputy General Director for Geology explained. The work is scheduled to be completed in May 2025.
Petr Povzhik also announced the development of another area: “This year, for the first time, with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, we are starting the construction of the first prospecting Valava well No. 5, located in the Southern structural-tectonic zone within the Lelchitsky district.”
The production association “Belorusneft” was founded in 1966. It conducts search, exploration and development of oil fields, drilling of wells, production of oil and associated petroleum gas in Belarus, works in the oil sector of other countries.
