Under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Engineer Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, the 8th Seismic Team of the Oil Exploration Company completed the two-dimensional "Abtakh Kolar" program in Nineveh Governorate, with a completion rate of 99% of the total length of 734.2 km.
During his field visit to the work site on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Director General of the Oil Exploration Company, Mr. Osama Raouf Hussein, emphasized that this achievement represents a significant national asset that contributes to the development of the oil exploration sector and supports the national economy. He praised the great efforts made by the technical and administrative staff of the team.
He added that the program was implemented in two phases to preserve the only source of income for the region's residents, namely the cultivation of wheat and barley this season. The second phase was implemented after the end of the harvest season.
He emphasized that today's success is the result of teamwork and determination to overcome challenges, noting that such accomplishments will continue to motivate us to continue our journey toward achieving strategic goals that place Iraq in a leading position in the field of exploration. The Director General appreciated the efforts of the staff by distributing certificates of appreciation to all members of the Eighth Seismic Division and shields of thanks and appreciation to the division's leadership, expressing appreciation for their efforts and dedication to implementing the program.
