Belorusneft Has Introduced a New Development for Seismic Drilling Equipment

As the company clarified, the development concerns the activities of the field seismic exploration department. The innovation makes it possible to automatically record the operating time of drilling equipment. Previously, this operation was performed using a watch. There was a need for equipment that would measure and record the specified parameters automatically.

Similar equipment is used in cement management, but it has its own characteristics. The necessary instruments were purchased for seismic surveyors, but for full functionality, improvement and refinement were required. The idea for this was proposed by UPSR mechanical engineer Vitaly Budyukhin.

“We have made changes to the design of the vehicle. The sensor was installed using a specially designed mount above the output flange of the power take-off, from which torque is transmitted to the drive units of the drilling rig – directly opposite the propeller shaft mounting bolts. In drilling mode, every time the gearbox clutch is engaged or disengaged with the engine, it is fixed by a sensor. And for convenience, the meter was placed in the cabin so that the driller could see the results,” he explained.

Thanks to technical innovations, an accurate calculation of the operating time of drilling equipment is recorded, and the impact of possible interference is minimized. This development also allows for timely maintenance, replacement of components and mechanisms, and helps control fuel consumption.

“Specialists from Svyazinformservice PU integrated data from the inductive sensor into the PC Transport system in the form of a time schedule. This allows you to control the production process, compare the information received by the sensor with other vehicle control systems for further analysis and decision-making,” explained in the company. The sensors are currently installed on more than 30 control vehicles.

The production association “Belorusneft” was created in 1966. The company searches, explores and develops oil fields, drills wells, produces oil and associated petroleum gas in Belarus, and works in the oil sector of other countries.
